As we are grapple with measures and restrictions, our mental health has taken a toll and physiological changes have taken place.
Poor sleep, anxiety, and feeling at a loss are some symptoms many office workers face during this pandemic that doesn’t seem to have a stop date.
While we can’t do much about the COVID-19 situation, let’s look at some habits we can cultivate to improve our mental toughness and be more resilient.
Believe in yourself
What is toughness? It is believed to be how an individual deals with stressful situations and continue to perform. A person can be “tough” due to many reasons such as upbringing, environment or even genetics.
Mental toughness can also be cultivated through practice and a simple way to start is to believe in yourself.
When your mind is strong, it can help to block negativity or self-doubt and positively affect your actions and confidence to complete a task.
When you know you are worth it and able to perform, you can do your work better.
Being consistent
Mental toughness is a skill and mindset to be developed and it is not done over a short time.
Map out the habits you want and be consistent in performing them. Having a routine is helpful to help you stay on your goals.
Dare to experience
Challenges pop up in our lives all the time – from small matters in your home life to challenging work situations that can cause stress.
A mentally strong person sees these challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. The more you step out of your comfort zone, the more experiences and knowledge you can undertake.
When you embrace the fear, you realise that it is not as bad as you think.
