How to streamline recruitment when there are many jobs to fill.

As a hiring manager, it can be challenging to manage recruitment when there are many pressing roles to fill, and the volume edges up as turnover continues.

Let’s look at the ways to determine which roles should be prioritised, as shared by Forbes.

Financial gains

Are the roles you are trying to fill revenue-generating? This is one aspect the hiring manager can look at and help rank the positions.

Recruiting comes with costs such as advertising, time, workforce and more. The recruiter can target revenue-generating roles over support ones as it might be more of an investment.

If the recruiter can fill a sales role, the company will benefit from the person’s revenue, and the gains will help pay for the other job openings.

Loss of resources

Another question the recruitment team has to be aware of is if the department or organisation will be financially impacted if the role was not filled.

A company might have 50 roles to fill but have enough resources to recruit half the number. This allows the team to relook where they should invest their hiring resources and the opportunity costs at not filling in the roles.

Will the team members need to pick up extra shifts or additional work? Will new or current projects be stalled? Are employees unqualified for the role filling in in the meantime?

Each department will want the role filled as fast as possible so hiring managers need to be transparent with line managers on the priority list.
