How to prepare for recruiting in a post-COVID world

Before COVID-19, the recruiting world has been changing according to industry needs and trends.

But with as businesses emerge out of a post-COVID world, what can we expect to change and be impacted in recruitment as some industries experience rapid growth while others stay on hold.

Either way, let’s look at some ways companies can do to prepare themselves for more unexpected shifts as we move on as shared by Forbes.

Transparency

Working From Home (WFH) is a current mainstay for many companies to protect employees from the virus and curb the spread.

As company policies change, so does the hiring practices. Onboarding programmes, orientations, welcome lunches have to undergo a significant re-think on how to make new employees feel welcomed.

Such new flexible policies can also be a major attraction for potential candidates. According to reports, searches for job opportunities at the social media giant, Twitter, rose by 80% after the company announced that employees can WFH indefinitely.

Flexibility

With employees WFH, companies must support them in their home life.

For employees with kids or seniors living at home, companies can provide a network of resources for them to tap into to make WFH easier. Businesses can set up channels for people to voice out and share their issues and collaborate solutions.

A good WFH policy can be a strong pull factor for good candidates looking out for new roles in a company with a positive working culture.

Be open to search widely

In the times of COVID-19, many agree that is is an employer’s market as job seekers largely outnumber the job roles available.

When recruiting, look out for different skill-sets or an unconventional candidate that can bring new ideas to the team.

As businesses change, new roles and hiring needs can pop up to drive change and growth. By being open-minded, this period can be a time to change up hiring practices and policies such as screening and interview processes.
