Hiring trends to expect as the year ends

As restrictions and measures slow down, employees feel more comfortable continuing their planned career progressions and goals.

According to recent hiring trend reports, including one from Visier, the HR consultancy services firm noted a significant spike in turnover in recent months in the US.

While attrition is considered healthy for a company to minimise talent stagnation, it can affect its bottom line if irregular and high turnover occur. Let’s look at the hiring trends expected to happen as we head towards the end of the year.

Mental wellness

One of the gripes that arose when the pandemic hit was the amplified workload as things headed online and businesses struggled to run operations.

Many employees worldwide reported increased anxiety and even signs of depression as the safety measures put people into isolation.

Moving forward, companies looking to hire have to focus on employee wellbeing and improve their wellness and mental health programmes to attract applicants.

Critical areas can include work-life balance, wellness benefits or resources to seek professional services.

New productivity KPIs

More than a year and a half has passed and many significant changes have occurred – but what about the baseline of performance?

As employees are primarily working remotely, performance measures also have to keep up and be redefined.

More emphasis can be placed on output and merit instead of hours spent on the projects or relooking the work.

Having a feedback session to understand the challenges and define more suitable benchmarks.
