Establish a conducive working environment
Employees of the current generation look beyond benefits and a paycheque when deciding whether to stay in a company for an extended period of time. Employees now view social aspects as an important factor as well. It is important to create a working environment whereby employees will feel comfortable and feel like the company is family and not just a workplace.

Stop spoon-feeding
In today’s education system, spoon-feeding information has become a norm for students. Stu-dents are mostly spoon-fed information and tasked with understand and memorising them. It is crucial for new employees to note that this is not encouraged in the workforce. Instead of stating what new employees can and should learn, it is better to send them for further training to help them develop and settle into the workplace. Training thus plays an important role in developing leadership aspects in the individuals.

Attracting the right candidates
While the number of job seekers have increased significantly over the years, it is hard to gauge whether the quality of these job seekers have improved. Instead of sending out a general mes-sage of recruiting based on certain qualities, HR should send out clear decisive messages on the exact type of candidates they are looking out for, such as possessing certain specific skills, knowledge and the expectations and challenges involved in joining the team. This will appeal only to the pool of talents who believe they are up for the expectations and challenges, as well as be-ing comfortable with possessing the required skillsets and attitude. By filtering out the general crowd, the resumes received by HR will make selection process easier and therefore increase the likelihood of hiring a right candidate for an opening.
