Ways to boost employee engagement

The lack of physical contact and meetups have changed the way business is conducted.

Within the company, without the opportunity for pantry talks, town halls, and meeting in the lifts have reduced for employees to mingle and build camaraderie. Let’s learn the ways companies can boost engagement.

Open communication channels

Have an intranet for employees to share work news? Why not relax the rules and allow employees to contribute their own topics and interests?

This allows the staff to participate in non-work topics and create conversations.

Through the platforms, HR can also hold informal “coffee shop” talks where employees from different teams can enjoy lunch and chat.

By staying connected, it can boost morale and rapport within the company.

Create interesting work projects

One way to get employees interested is to ask them for ideas to improve the future of work.

Gather employees from different divisions and form task force teams to improve current work efficiencies. If possible, incentivise the activities to increase employee participation.

Ideas can be redesigning appraisals, new performance indicators, wellness programmes or training courses to develop.

When employees contribute their ideas, they will likely be more supportive and participate in the approved ideas.

Let the staff reward each other

Instead of having managers give out rewards, why not change it up a little?

A simple gift card or a beverage coupon can be given to employees and let them decide who they want to present it to.

Doing so, it can be a meaningful way to give our compliments and show thanks to colleagues who helped them out.
