Wondering how to be more productive at work?

28 Feb 2023

Maintaining productivity isn't easy, we've all had days when accomplishing our assigned tasks seemed overwhelming. There isn't a foolproof system on how to be more productive at work but here are some tips to boost your productivity without having to put in strenuous effort.

Don't multitask.

When you try to multitask, you're not doing two things simultaneously. Instead, you're trying to switch your attention between two tasks at a faster pace and you have to refocus every time you juggle between them.

The "switch costs" along with other issues makes multitasking inefficient. Although "switch cost" isn't a relatively big issue, it can eventually add up to huge amounts.

Furthermore, research has shown that mental blocks caused by switching between tasks can account for as much as 40% of a person's productive time.

Finding shortcuts.

Consider using templates available online to aid and even beautify your campaigns, projects, flyers and even invoices.

You're truly missing out if you haven't used graphic design applications such as Canva, Adobe and Visme.

Next, you should be taking advantage of technology to take care of repetitive tasks. For instance, if your profession needs you to work on a computer for 8 hours every (working) day, studies have shown adopting keyboard shortcuts can save you up to 8 days a year. That's 3% of productivity!

Here are some simple yet handy keyboard shortcuts for windows:

Ctrl + S to save a file

Alt + Tab to switch between applications

Windows + d to minimize a window

Recharge

Last but not least, all these tips won't help if you don't take care of yourself.

Highly productive people take time to recharge. This includes getting enough sleep each night, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy diet.

Observe your own personal habits and make a change, for the better.

Productivity promotes morale and fosters a positive company culture which leads to a better workplace environment. When a company is highly productive and successful, employees are often given incentives such as salary raise, bonuses, healthcare coverage, and so on.
